A1
Learn everyday English words in sentences
Start with a small group of words you can use in daily life. Home, food and action words let you build short sentences and give your practice a clearer purpose than simply reading a long list.
Learn a noun in context
For apple, try “a fresh apple”. Notice chair in “under the chair”. This lets you practise neighbouring words and useful phrases as well as a dictionary meaning.
Notice base verbs and their forms
Read, drink and open are verbs. In “She reads”, reads is an inflected form of read. Learn the base word, but remember to use the right form when you build a sentence.
Test yourself with a small example
Choose five words, hide the list and say a sentence with each one. Look again when you cannot remember, then try later. Recognising a translation and using a word in a sentence are different skills.
Examples
- I drink water.
- Open the door, please.
- She reads a book.
